Abstract

The environmental crisis could be the worst problem faced by mankind. Global warming exacerbates migrations and wars. Since
the end of the last century, the UN has identified sustainable development as a possible way out, recently adopting the 2030 Agenda to achieve this goal. Environmental education will play a key role in the advancement of mankind and the teaching of science could be very useful in training the new actors of sustainable development and active citizenship. However, due to the high level of complexity of contemporary society, the scientific method alone is not sufficient and a transdisciplinary approach is urgently needed. The article includes three examples of environmental education good practices, for kids, teens and everybody. Christian spirituality can be of great inspiration in this challenging endeavour, placing it in the wider horizon of mankind’s march towards universal brotherhood.
