The December 2017 Research issue is a miscellaneous one, like the previous June issue. In the previous editorial, the focus was on skills, specifically on apparently non-"scholastic" skills which still have a decisive importance in people's life and professional careers. Also in this editorial I will deal with the issue of skills (which are however, as will be seen, present in this issue), taking as a starting point the debate following the publication of the data of the first "computer based" edition of OECD PISA 2015. Such debate has intercepted the classic division into "apocalyptic" and "integrated", who against and who in favor of computerized evidence.
