Increasing numbers of students are finding themselves in disadvantaged conditions that concur in increasing the risk of their educational failure and of early school leaving. The research, aimed at reconstructing an interpretative picture of the students’ educational fragilities and of the contexts in which they study and live, involved the 104 schools of all types and at all levels of the Province of Trento and 62 social workers of community services through a double qualitative-quantitative research pattern. The results have allowed to evaluate the entity of the phenomenon, to understand its characteristics and to bring to light the strategies used to meet the needs of these students.
