Abstract
It is the primary school's job to initiate and support the development of reading and writing skills.
During school, children learn to read and write but, often, the way in which this happens does not make them capable of a safe and pleasant use: it remains a scholastic skill, it does not become a passion. Unfortunately, the acquisition of these skills is also frequently accompanied by feelings of boredom, fatigue and frustration.
Learning the alphabetical language should be offered to children in a playful way and by encouraging their autonomy, following their own rhythms and interests. Therefore, not to satisfy the expectations or requests of others, but to respond to their own needs and desires, within significant relationships and situations charged with affection (Montessori, 2000).
Only in this way will children be able to fall in love with reading and writing and proceed on their path of growth in serenity.
