Introduced by Trento Provincial Council Resolution no. 1233/2020, “Educazione civica e alla cittadinanza” (ECC) represents an innovative school subject. In order to support and monitor its implementation, IPRASE (the Provincial Institute for Educational Research and Experimentation) has been charged with carrying out dedicated support and monitoring activities. To do so, a two-tier quantitative and qualitative approach has been adopted, combining data collection and analysis with teacher training and support for individual schools in designing curricula and assessment and evaluation criteria and tools. In this paper we present IPRASE’s overall activities and illustrate some of the initial results.
