This contribution is part of a pilot study conducted in the 2021/22 school year to evaluate the effectiveness of the RC-RT Program
on a at third-grade primary school students. The Reading Comprehension-Reciprocal Teaching (RC-RT) Program, already validated with fourth grade students, consists of a series of activities with the aim of making students acquire useful strategies for a deep understanding of the text. Within the pilot study, the Summarizing Test III (STIII) was developed to estimate the effects of the program and this contribution presents its validation process carried out with the data acquired from the administration of
the instrument to 192 third-grade students attending five schools in the Campania Region. The results obtained are encouraging and, even with the need for further study, the tool could be combined with others already used to evaluate text comprehension skills.
