Abstract

French director Olivier Ayache-Vidal usually precedes the design and production of his cinematographic stories by intense documentation, which allows him to make films that are more in keeping with the realities to be narrated. Often, as in the case of "Les grands esprits", he immerses himself in the contexts in which his feature films are set, even living there for several months. This way of working allows him to reduce the gap between fiction and reality. This is the case of this film, shot in a high school located in the department of Seine-Saint Denis, the collège Barbara, in the commune of Stain. The director, during his visits to the collège, involved the students in the design of the work, who then took part in the undertaking by playing the part of themselves.
