This paper presents an assessment of the training course “The role and the functions of the tutor in the school”, carried out during
the academic year 2018/2019 at the University of Milan-Bicocca. In particular, the paper presents the results of a qualitative evaluation study on the communication skills of the tutor-teacher, with specific reference to the formulation and communication of formative feedback. Data were taken from two texts written by each participant during the training course. The results, obtained from a qualitative content analysis, highlight the progress made in the development of communication and evaluation skills in the area of formative feedback.
