Abstract

Studying the effectiveness of reading and writing teaching practices requires connecting the educational processes implemented at school with the learning outcomes obtained by the pupils. This is the basis of the research work promoted by Istituto Provinciale per la Ricerca e la Sperimentazione Educativa (IPRASE) in the period 2016-18 in eighteen primary school classes in Trentino, through a combination of classroom observation, learning assessment tools and interviews with teachers. The contribution summarizes the
essential aspects of the research design, the main keys to interpreting the results obtained, the critical issues found and some emerging lines of development, referring for a more in-depth reading to the research report and survey tools recently published by IPRASE.
