The transition from high school to university is of outmost importance for the development of the academic experience. Orientation is therefore an important tool, together with the proactive and autonomous management of one’s own educational and professional career. This study, which involved 313 Institutes in 17 Italian regions, describes the university choices of high-school graduates, both in terms of motivation to continue their studies, and also in terms of the results achieved one year after school graduation. In particular, the study focussed on the effect of the development of guidance skills deriving from the implementation of the AlmaOrièntati process, identifying determinants of the achievement of university credits.
