Abstract

The practice of physical activity in children has several advantages. Benefits include physical, cognitive and socio-affective health. This article presents research lines and applications of models of physical activity with consequences for the cognitive functions and the prerequisites which are conducive to school results. Among these models, which focus not only on the recommended quantity, but also on the quality aspects of motor practice, there are movement games which can find a useful application in schools. The research work highlights some areas which are more investigated and underlines the importance of the relationship between movement and ideation, in which the use of games must be seen as a process rather than a goal in itself.
