About the debate in a foreign language (German). Reflections and best practices

Abstract

In 2015, when the argumentative debate tournament "A suon di parole" already boasted five years of experience in the Province of Trento, a version in a foreign language (L2) was proposed to Trentino schools, initially in English (the Word Games tournament) and, a year later, in German (the Wortbewerb tournament). The Sophie Scholl High School in Trento has been participating in Wortbewerb since its introduction, gradually making it an institutional experience, capable of involving, in its internal phase, all third and fourth-year classes.
